Hands Up was an exciting series of masterclasses over 3 weekends for adults and young people in the Deaf community to join. The project was delivered in partnership with Brisbane’s Deaf community and included dance, theatre and story telling skills development. It aimed to build a stronger foundation for Deaf theatre culture to grow in South East Queensland.
Check out our video all about the Hands Up project 2015:
Jodee Mundy, a CODA artist from Melbourne, presented a theatre workshop that included devising, physical theatre, mime and more.
Jo Dunbar, a Deaf dancer, also from Melbourne, led us in her beautiful style of dance that allowed everyone to be a dancer.
And then our very own Julie Lyons led a theatrical story telling workshop that explored expression, visual vernacular and performance.
At the end of the Masterclass Series, Julie Lyons led a series of devising workshops with participants to develop some of their own stories through visual vernacular, dance and performance. This was shared with friends and families on Sunday 24th May 2015.
