See Saw Circus gets $39,000 boost

Vulcana are delighted to announce that our See Saw Circus Program for 2017 will be bigger and better than ever, thanks to the support of Queensland Mental Health Commission.

Queensland Mental Health Commission LogoOur recent submission to the Queensland Mental Health Commission’s Stronger Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Grants Program was successful, and will see a $39,000 investment into our See Saw program next year.

This means we'll be able to offer a whole bunch of sponsored places in both our adults and kids circus programs, to people experiencing mental ill health. The Grants Program aims to "support locally-led, collaborative initiatives to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Queenslanders" and Vulcana will be partnering with agencies across Brisbane to ensure our sponsored places are offered to those most in need.

Speaking following the success of the grant, Vulcana's Kirstin Sillitoe explained the importance of these funds for the See Saw initiative:

"Our Vulcana Kids See Saw program received a great boost from The Funding Network a couple of years ago, and it's fantastic to be able to continue the Vulcana Kids offer, and formally extend the program to adults too. We see first hand the amazing, positive impact that circus can have on the health and wellbeing of an individual, and we're really excited about offering these sponsored places across 2017."
