Adult Classes

Vulcana deliver a range of scheduled Adult workshop classes throughout the year.  These range from beginner through to advanced level and are mostly open to to individuals who identify as women, trans, and non-binary genders - although some of our classes do cater for all genders.

We also offer Bespoke Workshops (that enable us to tailor a program to your group's specific requirements) as well as private lessons with our highly trained instructors.

Why Women Only?

Vulcana Women’s Circus was formed in 1995 in response to the need to create a safe, non-competitive space where women could feel free to explore their physical potential.  Vulcana recognizes that women have a different physical experience learning skills in a women only space.  In this regard we endeavour to grow strong women and in doing so build strong communities. Age / Fitness Level

We encourage you to attend our classes no matter what your fitness level. Vulcademy students are very varied in age and fitness level. Many students are in their 20’s and 30’s but we have some students in their 50’s and beyond!

Our classes provide a great alternative to traditional exercise in that you can work at your own level and you will have so much fun you don’t notice you are exercising!

If you have concerns about your fitness or have specific needs please talk to us about what class is best for you.

What do I Wear?

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and go upside down in. Gym clothing is ideal. You may also want to bring deodorant and a hand towel, especially in summer.

For Aerial workshops it is a good idea to wear tights that cover the back of your knees, and to bring a t-shirt.

For Fire workshops please wear natural fibres, fitted clothing (dark colours preferable), no dangly sleeves and hair tied back.

What do I Bring?

There is a kitchen in the building with a fridge. You can use it to store water and drinks ... We suggest bringing bottled water and something light to snack on like nuts or a banana.

What if I'm Having Trouble Paying?

Please talk to us if you are having trouble paying. We may be able to arrange a payment plan or you may qualify for a Sponsored Place.

Make-up Classes

For some classes you may be able to do make-up classes if you have to miss a class. For example if you miss a Wednesday Aerials class you can usually do a Saturday Aerials class. Please talk to the Workshop Coordinator about make-up classes.

How to get to Class

The Vulcana Women's Circus training space is located on the ground level of the Stores Building (the building next to the Powerhouse car park) at Brisbane Powerhouse, 119 Lamington Street, New Farm, QLD 4005.

Brisbane Powerhouse adjoins New Farm Park.

There are 4 bus services 195, 196, 197 and 199 which stop a short walk away. For more information visit or call Translink on 131230.

By Bicycle
Secure racks are available free-of-charge at Brisbane Powerhouse.

By Car
There is convenient free parking available from 5am - 11pm in New Farm Park (access via Brunswick St). Alternatively, there is limited free parking onsite at the Brisbane Powerhouse car park (access via Lamington St, a continuation of James St).
Note: Please exercise caution when walking through New Farm Park alone at night.
