Seen But Not Her

Seen But Not Her is a theatrical conversation between women musicians playing the music of women composers, and physical performers inserting their bodies between musicians and their instruments, and between notes and phrases of this music. Together they will unpick the experience of playing and composing, and celebrate women being heard.

Through the physicality of creating music and movement, Seen But Not Her shatters the typical format of the classical piano trio to create a unique experience of music, circus and performance.

Seen But Not Her was presented at the Judith Wright Centre for a curtailed season of one night only on July 3, 2021.

“Seen But Not Her was an exciting fusion of classical music with circus and contemporary movement, made about women , presenting the compositions of women, and produced entirely by women. Celebrating female empowerment and herstory, this show overthrew any traditional understandings of the feminine.”
